Kallio joined Trailmaker in 2022 and has been instrumental in spearheading Trailmaker’s ‘Execution Power’ concept. Before joining Trailmaker, he was a Senior Vice President at OP Financial Group and headed Tapio Group as CEO.
Kallio has a vast wealth of board experience stretching over 10 years. His experience is spread across various industries and he has worked for an array of different companies and organisations.
Kallio says that Trailmaker is filling a gap in the market by helping corporations and private equity avoid the most common pitfall of strategy execution.
“Trailmaker helps organisations reach their strategic goals in time. There is a big and clear need even though this is not always immediately recognised by the organisations themselves.
“Most strategies or strategic-level changes are unfortunately either delayed or not executed at all and this is very costly.”
Kallio says that the cost of delay is seldom calculated or evaluated, but can easily run into the millions.
“If the strategic goal is to double a €200M-business in 5 years and it takes 7 years instead, then this delay will cost the corporation tens of millions of euros.
“The main reason for the delay is that many corporations have low execution power in strategic change. What I mean is that an organisation’s focus is to run the operative business, but this practice is not enough to execute or implement strategic change. In strategic change you are moving towards a new and uncertain situation.
“What is often missing is that key people don’t have the same commitment to the same execution of strategy. The second aspect is steering the strategic change. This is very different from following up to see if a certain task has been done.
“If these crucial pieces are missing then the execution power is low and the strategy is delayed. Trailmaker brings these missing pieces to strategy execution and this is how execution power is increased and faster execution of the strategy takes place.
“I find it very rewarding to help our growing customer base speed up strategy execution.”
In recent feedback interviews Trailmaker customers perceive that on average they have been able to increase the speed of execution by 12 months. The Trailmaker concept for strategy execution has been proven in over 400 projects with large corporations and private equity.
